El rostro del horror

Ésta es una historia que conmocionó hasta los cimientos de la iglesia. Nadie lo esperaba; nadie siquiera lo imaginaba.

Treinta y cinco años después de aquellos horrorosos hechos se abría una puerta al pasado. Una puerta cerrada por la vergüenza y, reforzada con mil cerrojos, por más vergüenza.

Ahora, luego de toda una vida, Ana, la más rebelde de las hijas, acusaba a su padre de abuso sexual. Los familiares y el hermano menor estallaron en furia. “¡Mentira!”, dijeron; “sos una perversa y mal agradecida”.

Pasaron solo unos días y la otra víctima, la hermana del medio, confirmó con su propia historia el relato desgarrador de su hermana. Las dos señalaron que, casi a diario, una u otra eran “llamadas” al dormitorio de sus padres y, estando el papá solo, las obligaba a “distintas cosas”. Todo ocurría después del almuerzo, mientras la madre permanecía en la cocina. ¿Entró alguna vez en el dormitorio o preguntó algo? ¡Jamás! Nunca apareció cuando una de sus hijas estaba a solas en el dormitorio con su padre.

Los años cambiaron los calendarios y los tiempos mudaron las estaciones, pero no lograron aplacar el dolor de aquellas niñas traicionadas y abusadas en su inocencia más pura.

Hoy, convertidas en mujeres, viven con profundos conflictos. Nadie sospechó que la causa fuera el recuerdo de tantas situaciones de abuso que, como un fuego que consumía, iba in crescendo como la furia de un volcán.

No podía ser verdad. Si, durante años, toda la familia se había sentado a la misma mesa; juntos habían compartido fiestas y cumpleaños; ¿cómo creer en una historia oculta de vejación, abuso y silencio cuando todo parecía tan normal?

Un detonante hizo que la verdad fuera puesta al desnudo. El padre abusador estaba en la cama con sus nietas de “llamativamente” la misma edad que la de ellas cuando fueron abusadas y, “llamativamente”, la ahora abuela permanecía ausente en esos momentos. Ese suceso descubierto por la hija mayor irrumpió en lo cotidiano y, lo innombrable se hizo palabra, recuerdo vívido y dolor.

La abuela, madre de aquellas dos pequeñas atrapadas en el tiempo, al escuchar el relato de sus hijas, ni siquiera manifestó asombro. El hijo varón, el menor, el único no abusado por su padre, se sintió morir de la angustia. Entró en shock.

¿Y el abusador? Usted seguramente se preguntará: ¿Qué pasó con él? Su esposa lo defendió y él se victimizó. Dijo que ahora que era un hombre grande, de casi 70 años; lo único que sus hijas querían, era matarlo, quitarle el cariño de sus nietas y destruir la familia.

¿Nunca se le ocurrió a ese malvado pensar que cuando abusaba destruía vidas, las de sus propias hijas?

Como si esto fuera poco, este hombre era líder de una iglesia cristiana. Desde hacía años oficiaba como tesorero y ayudante pastoral. Un verdadero abusador… camuflado bajo la religión, oculto bajo las apariencias.

 

Principios para la restauración

El pastor de esa iglesia nos pidió que dispensáramos un tiempo especial para ministrar a Ana.

A media mañana, nos reunimos con ella. Al comienzo de la charla, su rostro expresaba desconfianza e irritación, pero a medida que convertía sus emociones en palabras que salían con la fuerza de un látigo, el llanto se hizo presente. “Lo odio, lo odio con todo mi ser”, expresaba una y otra vez, refiriéndose a su padre.

Mientras exponíamos la Palabra de Dios, su rostro se iba mudando como manifestación visible de un corazón que estaba siendo sanado. Al finalizar el encuentro, vislumbramos el milagro.

Media hora después llamó a su pastor y le dijo: “No sé qué ocurrió, pero soy otra persona. Mientras regresaba a casa, una nube oscura se apartó de mi vida. Cuando llegué, abracé a mi marido, le dije cuánto lo amaba… y hacía años que no hacía esto”.

Por la tarde, Ana buscó a una vecina del barrio, no creyente, que había sufrido abuso sexual de niña, y le dijo: “Después de tantos tratamientos psicológicos hoy tengo algo que nunca logré: paz interior, alegría y una nueva dignidad. Dios ha quitado mi vergüenza y se ha llevado mi dolor”.

La trajo a la conferencia y, esa misma tarde, esa vecina recibió al Señor Jesús en su corazón experimentando también el poder de la restauración.

Si usted ha sido víctima, puede experimentar el poder de la restauración en este mismo momento. El proceso comienza desde adentro hacia fuera. Principia con la confesión, es decir, poner en palabras la remembranza del dolor sufrido. Hágalo en este momento ante el Señor o busque una persona confiable a quien pueda contárselo.

El segundo paso consiste en tomar la decisión de perdonar; el no hacerlo lo lleva irremisiblemente a la pérdida de la paz interior.

La falta de paz crea un estado anímico negativo que influye sobre el cuerpo, de tal modo que surge la tendencia a enfermarse. Numerosas camas de los hospitales están ocupadas por personas que no quisieron perdonar y el odio secó su vitalidad. El rencor y la falta de perdón son para nuestra vida peor que el colesterol alto, el sedentarismo y una dieta no saludable. El estrés que genera el rencor sobrepasa a los cuidados que queramos dispensarnos. “Guardar rencor es como tomar veneno y esperar que otro muera”, D. Carnegie.

Ahora bien, perdonar no significa volver a tratar al abusador como si nada hubiera ocurrido. Tampoco significa hacer un esfuerzo para olvidar. Significa renunciar al dolor, alejarse del ofensor y planificar el futuro a partir de la decisión de dejar atrás el pasado. Eso es perdón: no se espera revancha, no se busca vindicación; si ya ha prescripto el tiempo de la denuncia, deje la justicia en manos de Dios. Otorgue perdón para que, al abrir la cárcel de su corazón, quede libre usted mismo.
